I was researching some Japanese Folk albums in the same vein of Ichiko Aoba, who is one of my favorite japanese Folk artists out there. I stumbled across this album and its cover art intruiged me, so I decided to check it out, and it’s fantastic. Since then it’s been one of my favorites. Sparse acoustic backing with mostly female vocals… drums, saxophones, male vocals, piano and several other instruments are used only in the right moments, not to shift the focus away from the calm and relaxing atmosphere… it feels like the extra instruments at times are only used to put emphasis onto the acoustic, sparse instrumentation. If you’re looking for a calm japanese Folk album, this is a must,
